This is the short documentary-style film, “Caine’s Arcade”, that in recent months has gained various popularity via social media. The short film was Directed by Nirvan Mullick and his team, and Produced by Interconnected. The film, which spans roughly under twelve minutes, is a feel good story about 9 year old Caine, a young boy with a huge imagination. “He loves to see how things are built, he takes all his toys apart to see how they work. He can’t put them back together, but he loves taking them apart.”, Caine’s father utters in the opening  seconds of the film. Caine’s summer long pursuit to build his dream arcade and to bring satisfaction and joy to others in his community is what inspires filmmaker, Nirvan Mullick, to document and ultimately tell Caine’s story to the world.

-I chose this film to post on my blog for your viewing and enjoyment, ultimately because these types of films and stories are exactly the kinds of simple, human, heartfelt stories that fascinate me with journalism, writing, and producing media for the world. I want to tell stories.  Whether they be international breaking news, or a nine year old with a dream. Mullick’s work inspires me to believe that journalism is what we make it, and that every person, every place, every story, has the potential to be something everyone can connect to. I believe it is our job as journalists, producers, editors, or filmmakers to uphold the social responsibility we have to society; by telling these stories. Enjoy!
